Social Media as a Money Maker

Image
Before social media became an extensive resource world-wide, people pursued businesses through Brick and Mortar startups. Social media has not only enabled business start-ups, but has integrated itself as a full-time job. It provides targeting capabilities, promotional strategies, and the ability to reach a large-scale audience with minimal capital invested. Businesses are using Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest to run their businesses. With the use of messaging, photos, links, influencers, engagement statistics, followers, shares, comments, likes, aesthetics, the opportunities are endless. Businesses can encourage their audience to engage in transactions and manage relationships with customers at a low cost, furthermore enhancing the return on equity. People spend hours of their time on social media everyday, therefore brands must go where the people go. https://www.businessnewsdaily.com/7832-social-media-for-business.html

Understanding & Preventing Cyberbullying

Image
Cyberbulling is a difficult topic to find a solution for. To be realistic, it seems there will always be some sort of bullying dynamic taking place with adolescents / young adults, it just depends on what level of harm the cyber bullying is causing.  Although teachers and parents want to get involved in students social media as much as possible, sometimes it can backfire with the bully creating more problems. For example, your mom watches your social media account and sees that you received a nasty message from someone. She then calls the school to essentially tell on that student for cyber bullying. This specific bully can then twist the situation to pick on the victim even more by calling them weak, claiming they ran to their mom, saying they’re a tattle-tale, and so on. Having teachers and parents constantly defending the victim shows a sign of weakness. Behavioral patterns are also extremely difficult to change, and sometimes punishing the bully may only fuel their fire.

Does Social Media Foster Insecurity?

Image
We claim that our purpose in using social media is for networking, connections and keeping up with the Jones’s. However, there is an underlying suppression of insecurities that the digital world causes. Whether this is implicit or explicit, people tend to naturally compare their lives with others. There are times where I purposefully compare myself to others, and times that I catch myself in the middle of creating a comparison in my head. When these thoughts enter my head I am putting myself down, lowering my self-esteem and fostering insecurity. Other subjects of insecurities caused my social media involve intimate relationships and cyber bullying. The result of these insecurities can lead to terrifying mental, emotional and physical health problems. The Royal Society of Public Health conducted a survey of around 1,500 people between the ages of 16 and 24 to better understand insecurities created by social media. Here are some interesting statistics on the topic: Rates o

The Downfall of Influencer Marketing

Image
As a marketing and sales enthusiast, I have become familiar with the influencer industry that has boomed in the last few years over digital media. Influencers have provided brands with the opportunity to generate content on a digital platform to an audience of endless demographics. Brands are now jumping to invest capital in influencers because they fulfill marketing campaigns online, as well as handle an extensive form of public relations. Many people are now jumping onto the opportunity to become an influencer. Whether it be for beauty, sustainability, business, fashion, motivation, events, or even travel, influencers are practically bombarding the digital landscape. The downfall is that, rather than authentically and sincerely influencing their audiences, they’re acting more as if their ultimate goal is to become an instagram model, a reality TV star, or a public figure. Working as an influencer means bringing yourself down to the audiences level by acting as a consumer of t

The Age of Social Media Stalking

Image
Social media users have become ignorant to the danger that social media imposes on our well-being. We spend too much valuable time on our personal pages and not enough time being productive in our physical lives. We also tend to develop insecurities based on constant comparison to others lives that seem to be so “picture perfect.” The ultimate danger that goes past these threats to our well-being is the outstanding opportunities given to stalkers. A stalker is considered a person that becomes overly obsessed with somebody by engaging in unwanted bombarding behaviors. These behaviors may include calls, texts, emails, tracking and following. Social media has created an opportunity to stretch stalking behaviors without the victim having any clue. Nowadays, people use their social media as either personal blogs or influencer platforms that provide extensive information about their (what should be) private life. In efforts to expose themselves, users often leave their profiles on a pu

Coachella has become known as the ultimate music enthusiast, experiential marketing, brand ambassador, top notch party that is mixed with a pool of celebrities, influencers, and music producers.           The exclusivity of this music festival creates a severe urge to be involved in the event, especially brands and fashion enthusiasts that are looking for extensive exposure. A major portion of attendees fall in the millennial generation, which stands as one of the highest money-spending generations to date, as well as the most tech-savvy in social media marketing. Blog Prompt #2: Googlization

Google has turned itself into a multi-billion dollar concept by providing people access to almost any information at any time. We are able to gather quick responses, as well as conduct secondary research through scholarly sources. Google has helped businesses and organizations reach their targeted audiences, and has provided educational experiences. The opportunities are endless when it comes to googles innovative concept. But in reality, all organization’s have their pros and cons. Does Google have too much power over our lives? I think we can argue that technology itself possess too much power. However, considering the amount of opportunities and discoveries the world has had because of technology, I would not consider its power to be completely negative. Google is similar in this sense because it is a power source for knowledge and opportunity. Instead of having to go to an encyclopedia, we are able to retrieve information at the tips of our fingers. Instead of spending hours in l
